Philip Rivers (born December 8, 1981 in Decatur, Alabama) is the starting quarterback for the San Diego Chargers. He was drafted by the New York Giants with the fourth overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. However, Eli Manning stated that he would not sign with the San Diego Chargers if drafted by them and insisted that he be traded to another team after the draft, and the Giants draft-day trade sent Rivers, and first, third, and fifth-round picks, to the Chargers and Eli Manning to the Giants.
